What's Included in a Photography Shoot?

The typical farm visit takes 2-4 hours, depending on the number of subjects (and the willingness of the subjects!) to be photographed. Longer visits can be arranged if needed but may incur extra charges. Proofs will be provided as soon as possible via the Proofs Page. Color correction and cropping are included in the shoot at no additional charge. Prints may be purchased directly from the website via credit card or by personal contact with Jaime via check/cash.

Photographing Horses

Upon arrival, the subject(s) should be groomed and ready to for the shoot. The nicest photographs are created when your horse looks his best! A fresh clip job, bathing, and brushing to make him dust free will help the pictures look great. In addition, any tack should be cleaned and ready to looks its best in photos too. If desired, tail extensions should already be hung and manes should be braided or banded. The horse should be show ring ready or better. *Banding is available at an additional charge but MUST be scheduled ahead of time to ensure enough time to fotograph during the best light!

Photographing Handlers

If handlers will be in the portraits, choose colored clothing that complements the horse's coat. On extremely bright days, light colored or white shirts are not recommended. If you need assistance with this, let me know beforehand, and I can help you. Handlers should also be show ring ready, with makeup applied (if desired) and hair tidy. Western hats look better if brushed and shaped. Western jeans look better starched and creased. Huntseat boots should be polished and clean.

Photographing Landscape

If freedom or foal shots are desired, make sure the footing in the turnout area is appropriate. Often lush green pastures need to be mowed shorter for photography since baby legs are covered by tall grass. Similarly, rocks or mud in dry lots create uneven terrain which is not condusive to great conformation shots. The ideal spot would be level with green grass less than 4 inches tall, but if the "perfect" area is not available, don't worry, we will work with what we have! If necessary, photo editing can be applied later to cover uneven grass.sig
